Glitter Removal

There are a lot of ways to take those glitter bombs off. This is my preferred method. I thought I would share with you. It saves me time and  money.

I buy these or the Grafco brand in bulk for $4 from Amazon. I usually get the small size so they fit snugly. Flents can also be purchased at WalMart where I live, but it's the multi-size as shown. I can't really use the large size. Plus the 36 count cost as much as the bulk 144 count from Amazon. So, I prefer buying the Grafco bulk.
I try to follow the general routine of moisturize, remove, moisturize. Especially with this method. So, I start with these products.

I tear little pieces off my cotton ball, ten to be exact. I use the cotton bud to put some of the moisturizer or oil around my cuticle. You can use your finger to do this and skip the cotton bud if you remember to do all 10 fingers first. ;)

Then, I soak the cotton pieces in the remover and stick them to my nail.

Then, I roll a finger cot over the cotton. I like this method because it allows me to do all ten fingers at once and still be able to do other things since the cots fit tightly enough so that the remover doesn't leak.

After a few minutes, I roll the finger cots back and pull the cotton off.

A few swipes with the flip side of the cotton and it's all gone. The finger cots are reusable. They will last quite a while. I keep my used ones separate from my new ones in a baggie, and use them for at least five removes or until I tear one or can't get it rolled back up. I typically only use one cotton ball this way.

Wash your hands and moisturize again! I find it best to use a really good moisturizer, maybe a pure cold pressed Argan Oil (no silicon - ie not meant just for hair) and wait 10 to 20 minutes for it to soak in before polishing. While nails don't need to breath, they do need moisture. If you don't take the time to give them some moisture, they suffer. I some times take a day off polish and moisturize like crazy...but that's another post. :)

I don't always use Zoya Remove, but I do love it. I also don't always use these cuticle products. I have a product post upcoming. OK...I think that's all I forgot (but probably not). *le sigh*

That's glitter removal my way. Hope it was helpful. ;)

    1. I love this method. I have made it a personal challenge to use one cotton ball (per removal) and reuse my cots as long as possible. It's my "green" method. :D I sometimes use more than one cotton ball, but the challenge makes it fun and I feel more "green".

Let me know if you try it and how you like it. If I'm not mistaken, I was attempting the foil method one night and DH gave me these and I've used them ever since!

  2. Wow that's a great method for sure! The reason I hate the foil method is because you can't do anything while your sitting there waiting for the polish to come off. I'll have to try this sometime!

    1. I think that was my exact comment the first and only time I tried the foil. It also was a ridiculous amount of foil and cotton. This is so thrifty, just a tiny piece of cotton on the nail. It's the NailsIT method for glitter. ;) I confess I have even typed while waiting. :D

    2. LOL I was doing the foil method tonight and was still able to do the computer a little--even cropping pictures ;) But I only do one hand as a time. And there was ALOT of hunt & peck lol.

  3. I don't suppose you have a link for the ones on Amazon. I can't seem to find the bulk ones that you mention. This idea is SO fabtastic!!

    1. Here's a link for the small size

      Here's for the medium

I use the small. They are tight on my thumbs (uncomfortable) but I deal with it. I'd rather do that than shuffle two sizes around and I want them to be snug on my other fingers. :)

If you are unsure, you might want to try the multi-size first.

  4. Thanks. I never had heard or seen Cots before. I don't use glitter but rarely because of not just the time/effort to remove but all that time with the nail exposed to the remover strips the heck out of the moisture I work so hard to put into 'em. I will give this a try and make sure I put cuticle oil on so it's still up on top and present big time when the remover is working it's soak. I love, love the Barielle Intensive Nail Renewal Oil - tried a zillion and that one is the best...now Sally's caries the Pro line of Barielle treatments and they have one the same but different package and different name - I can tell it's the same by looking at it and smelling it..nice as I don't always order from Barielle so I can get it at Sally's now if I need. I really love the Barielle strengthening cream as well - also sold now at Sally's too - box is different - pot in the box is exactly the same as buying on line from Bariellle retail site. I use at night the cream first - set for ~30 to 60 sec then apply my Barielle Intensive Treatment oil over it...only learned that from reading the Barielle site - they recommend using them together. So now I do - nightly never miss ever! Agree with you, we have to hydrate, hydrate nails...esp if you have problem nails. I too will skip over color for days while I really work on major repair/hydration like 6 times a day.

  5. This is BRILLIANT! Saved in my tutorials for a future post--my favorite tutorials!

I think I'm going to try the large only because tight things makes my skin welt (yea weird I know). Bulk stuff rocks!
